peanut-free food - peanuts

A few weeks ago we asked our community members what they would most like to see #nimatested with the upcoming Nima Peanut Sensor. After collecting the survey results we went on a shopping spree — gathered the 12 most requested food items and #nimatested them. Below are the results:

*Please note these items were #nimatested for peanuts, not gluten. A lot of the items listed below do contain gluten, and are not recommended for our community members avoiding gluten. Also, as with our gluten sensor, Nima is not a guarantee the whole dish is uniformly peanut-free. Always use your best judgement before testing or consuming a food tested with Nima. Every manufacturing lot is different so we encourage you to test often with your Nima peanut sensor (coming very soon).

1. Kikoman Soy Sauce

peanut-free food - soy sauce

Result: Smile!

Testing tip: Make sure you don’t overfill the capsule when testing liquids — you should still see the teeth from the bottom of the capsule!

2. Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Premium Brownie Mix

peanut-free food - Ghiradelli dark chocolate brownie mix

Label: Contains wheat, milk, and soy. May contain eggs and tree nuts.

Result: Smile!

Testing tip: When testing powdery substances, it’s best to add a little bit of water to the sample. It will help the mixing process and ultimately help the test run more efficiently!

3. Bryers Chocolate Ice Cream

peanut-free food - Breyers chocolate ice cream

Label: Contains milk and egg ingredients.

Result: Smile!

Testing tip: If the ice cream is especially thick, it’s best to add a little bit of water to the sample. It will help the mixing process and ultimately help the test run more efficiently!

5. Plain M&Ms

peanut-free food - milk chocolate M&Ms

Label: Contains milk and soy. May contain peanuts.

Testing tip: Crush up the M&M before putting it in the capsule. Make sure you don’t put too much in — a quarter of an M&M is all you need!

6. Twix

peanut-free food - Twix

Label: Contains milk, soy, and wheat. May contain peanuts.

Result: Smile!

Testing tip: With candy that is especially gummy like Twix (which has caramel in it), it’s especially important that you don’t overfill the capsule. Overfilling the capsule could clog the sensor and the test may not complete.

Result: Smile!

8. Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar
